Employee of the Month Voting Rules

Purpose

SteelCon's Employee of the Month program is designed to recognize team members who demonstrate strong work ethic, quality, safety, teamwork, accountability, and commitment to SteelCon's mission and values.

Each employee may submit up to 3 recognition votes per week. Use your votes to recognize teammates at your plant who are showing strong safety, quality, teamwork, leadership, productivity, helping others, or going above and beyond. Votes reset each week and unused votes do not carry over. Monthly winners are determined by total votes received during the full monthly contest period — one winner per plant.

Plant Locations

Employee of the Month voting is organized by plant location:

  • Brighton, Colorado
  • Houston, Texas
  • Vandalia, Missouri

Each employee may only vote within the plant location where they work.

Who Can Vote

Active SteelCon employees listed on the current monthly roster may vote.

To vote, employees will enter their employee ID in the voting app. The app will confirm the employee's plant location, show how many weekly votes they have remaining, and allow voting only for eligible teammates at that same location.

Voting Rules

  • Each active employee may submit up to 3 recognition votes per week.
  • Votes reset weekly during the monthly contest period. Unused weekly votes do not carry over.
  • Employees may vote only for teammates at their own plant location.
  • Employees may vote for more than one teammate during the week.
  • Employees may vote for the same teammate more than once only if each vote is tied to a separate contribution or act of recognition.
  • Each vote must include a reason category (Safety, Quality, Teamwork, Productivity, Leadership, Helping Others, or Above and Beyond). A short note is optional.
  • Employee IDs are used only to confirm voting eligibility and weekly limits. Employee IDs are not shown on the nominee list or winner screen.
  • Votes should be made honestly and respectfully based on the employee's recent work and contributions to SteelCon.

What to Consider When Voting

When choosing who to recognize, consider teammates who demonstrate:

  • Safety — strong safety habits and looking out for others
  • Quality — careful, high-quality workmanship
  • Teamwork — supporting and collaborating with their crew
  • Productivity — consistent, dependable effort
  • Leadership — setting a positive example
  • Helping Others — stepping in when teammates need a hand
  • Above and Beyond — going further than what was asked

The Employee of the Month program is not intended to be a popularity contest. It is intended to recognize employees who help make SteelCon better.

Winners

  • Monthly winners are determined by total votes received during the full monthly contest period, even though voting limits reset weekly.
  • One Employee of the Month winner is finalized for each plant location.
  • Each plant winner receives a $100 gift card.
  • Winners are announced after voting closes and results have been reviewed.

Six-Month Winner Rule

To keep the program fair, an employee who wins Employee of the Month cannot win again during the next six-month eligibility window.

Employees who are still within the winner lockout period will not appear as eligible nominees in the voting app.

Ties go to the new guy!

In the event of a tie, the win goes to the newer SteelCon teammate.

Voting Privacy

  • Vote totals and notes are reviewed by approved administrators only.
  • Employees should not pressure others to vote a certain way.
  • Employees should not ask another employee to vote on their behalf.
  • Employees should not attempt to vote using another employee's ID.

Weekly Voting Process

  1. Open the voting app and select your plant location.
  2. Enter your employee ID to see how many weekly votes you have left.
  3. Pick an eligible teammate at your plant.
  4. Choose a reason category and add an optional short note.
  5. Submit your vote. Repeat up to 3 times per week.
  6. Votes reset at the start of each new week.
  7. At month end, SteelCon reviews totals and finalizes one winner per plant.

Questions or Issues

If an employee has trouble voting, they should contact their supervisor or the assigned program administrator.

Common issues may include:

  • Employee ID entered incorrectly
  • Employee assigned to a different plant
  • All 3 weekly votes already used
  • Employee not listed on the current roster

SteelCon will review roster or voting issues before winners are finalized.
